Surdna Foundation
The Surdna Foundation seeks to foster just and sustainable communities in the United States—communities guided by principles of social justice and distinguished by healthy environments, strong local economies, and thriving cultures. The Foundation’s Sustainable Environments program seeks to support communities of color and low-wealth communities to direct infrastructure and land use investment dollars, drive decision-making processes, and design policy solutions because those who are disproportionately impacted by environmental and climate inequity have the most powerful solutions to resolve these inequities. The areas of focus include Environmental and Climate Justice, with a focus on supporting the power of communities of color and low-wealth communities most impacted by environmental and climate injustices, and Land Use Through Community Power, with a focus on creating the conditions necessary to build community power to promote community ownership, and stewardship of critical community assets and infrastructure. There are no deadlines for letters of inquiry. Application guidelines are available on the Foundation’s website.
